This is crazy to me because I can't imagine ever wanting to eat at a furniture store
The idea is to keep people in the store for as long as possible. Having a food court eliminates the husband getting tired of furniture shopping and using the "I'm hungry, let's go" excuse.
It's also more likely to get the husband to go in the first place: "But honey, you can get some of those fun meatballs you love!"
IKEA helped me teach my son to read. We would go through the store and try to pronounce the weird Scandinavian names of the items. I have about a 20 minute tolerance for any shopping, so that kept us entertained.
I get that but it's still wild to me. I don't like meandering around stores, I don't want to be there any longer than I have to
They literally design the store layout to keep you there as long as possible, to the point that there are numerous little cheap asset flip indie horror games based off not being able to escape an ikea.
