This is one of the reasons I hate the new book covers.

The CoS cover is particularly spoilertastic.

The cover spoils:

  • The monster is a snake
  • Harry fights it with a sword
  • The snake's eyes get injured
  • Fawkes shows up
  • Ginny and The Sorting Hat are present during the battle
