You can do VSCode, which is FOSS, contains integrated AI, and you can even complain about Micro$oft at the same time as a bonus!

Microsoft is attacking the forks
Still got the AI, but at least no Microsoft telemetry.
VSCode isn't foss (like Chrome)
In fact to add to this, VSCode downloaded binary from microsoft is not at all FOSS. I use VSCodium which doesn't push AI
Some of the plugins are not foss
I like Kate better. It is also a lot faster to open.
