As long as it's 51% of a bill with serial obvious, otherwise they send it in and it takes some time and sometimes they don't reclaim each bill of its questionable.

It's funny to imagine that they implemented the 51% rule because someone may have tried to scam the bank by trying to get a replacement for each half of the same bill.

In Australia you get an amount proportional to how much bill you have, so that wouldn't work. (Unless you don't have enough, then you get nothing)

yeah being digested by a cat might get in the way of the serial number being legible or finding over that percentage, but depending on the size of the bills it could be worth trying

Don't even have to do that, fill out the form jam it in a bag and send it to the Fedres and they send you back money or a letter why each bill was rejected.
