Religion has been really good at carving out exceptions to hide their batshittery.

You believe in a crazy man that pisses vodka and walks on lava? You're a crazy delusional man!

You get a million people to believe your horseshit, wait a minute, respect this man's religion!

So yea, they are both cults, both would be classified as mental illnesses if, again, they didn't carve out exemptions for religion.
