Debbie Downer: These monitor lizards are sizing each other up and are in the midst of their intraspecific threat display. Since neither lizard is particularly larger than the other, a potentially deadly altercation between these individuals could result in life long injuries or even death for the one that loses.

Umar Upper : While I dont know nearly as much about monitor lizards, if what you say is true, thats kinda cool too. If its just something animals do naturally, and not because mankind has ruined their environment and confined them together, that can still be enjoyable aspects of wildlife.

Not that I wouldnt be sadbones depending on how a nature doc showed it to me.
