At least one hundred. In 18th century Europe, still, in rare cases, "witches" were burned.

Were they burned alive and was it an official act? I think by the 18 century almost everywhere burning alive has gone out of style.

Yes, from scimming the Wikipedia articles, the victims of the last cases often were decapitated before they were burned.

I mean maybe they’re talking about people who would have accidentally set themselves on fire while building railroads? Or as performance acts?
