Just a suggestion, I really liked this feature on rif. Hide on read is ok, but I prefer the vote, and feeling when I vote and something disappears.

Doesn't this turn it into a weird game where you have to have an opinion on everything?

It encouraged it, but you still have the option of manually hiding posts if you prefer to not have an opinion on something.
