I sincerely think you do not grasp James Joyce's Finnegans Wake and think all these are 'strawman'.

No, this is hard core reality real to me. Tower of Babel metaphor is as real as humanity problems get, and social media users are some of the worst in all human history in how they force language upon each other and insult and mock people / dehumanize with machines.

I entirely correct you: these are NOT strawmen arguments. You really need to study Marshall McLuhan and James Joyce.

if you absorb that most Lemmy people already agree with you.

No, they don't. I gave extensive examples in my last reply. This place is amusement mill. Nobody here is agreeing with me that amusement itself is the cause of our problems. LOL, LMFAO, memes, shit.

Everything of Lemmy anonymous meme life is what is wrong in year 2025. This is a place where Donald Trump and Elon Musk are normalized with amusement surreal comedy, absurd humor.

My dad predicted Trump in 1985 – it's not Orwell, he warned, it's Brave New World. The ascent of Donald Trump has proved Neil Postman’s argument in Amusing Ourselves to Death was right. Here’s what we can do about it

Oh, on the over-amusement Neil Postman issue, I'll completely agree with you. And yes I think most Lemmy people are unaware of that as a problem. It's gotten incredibly much worse since Postman's time. Orders of magnitude.

The strawman thing was simply on what you seemed to be saying about people on Lemmy being unaware of or in denial about Russian interference. It's two different issues. I was talking purely about the issue of Russian trolls being in control of a lot of discourse on the internet, and people being aware of it or not, not the underlying flaws in the whole dopamine model or people being aware of that or not.

I should have said this last reply, but I'll say it now.

People on the Internet throw out logical fallacy labels / names like "strawman argument" as thought-terminating clichés.

I have estimated in public that it takes 18 months to comprehend the topics I'm discussing. Even Peter Pomerantsev does not seem to understand Marshall McLuhan, Neil Postman, James Joyce on the monomyth / world religions.... so Peter Pomerantsev entire body of interviews and published writings is only about 6 out of the 18 months. Marshall McLuhan and Joycean body of work is easily another 9 months of understanding Surkovian information warfare payloads - what Cambridge Analytica has tapped into.

There are alternatives and faster paths than 18 months, such as trusting the right people. Many of which are dead authors / teachers such as Carl Sagan... and !Malala@lemm.ee is one of the few public teachers who has left enough public material to get people to see the crisis in monomyth behaviors and interpretations. Trusting her would be a shortcut. She has excellent communications, but humanity avoids the truth she keeps saying.

The crisis is the amusement one, people are not interested at all or attracted to humanism. The sort of things Carl Sagan spells out in his Pale Blue Dot poem do not attract people, nor does Malala attract people to her ideas. People have to actually desire a better world and not just get off on hating people. It's the biggest step forward for humanity, and most have never even imagined it.

Cambridge Analytica and the IRA are sort of part of history, at this point, how we got to the present state as opposed to vital “news” that people need to be made aware of.

Nope. I do not see people grasping at all that this is an alternate reality game they are playing on Lemmy. That they are inside simulacra of resistance.

This is about James Joyce's monomyth, show me where people are relating that to Surkov techniques and writings.

If it was already here I would be building on it and not starting from scratch and going bottom up.

We are not going to escape these 5,000 artificial Russian religions without confronting what I quoted to you already about 1987 Skywalker Ranch interviews and the 3 main Levant monomyth religions. Which are artificial reality meme systems that the Kremlin built on top of.

Plenty of people will enjoy and adore living in alternate reality, that's human history, but I'm not. I don't enjoy the simulacra of resistance at all. This isn't fun, real reality is a horror show, and if you hate any person - if you hate Elon Musk or hate Donald Trump - you can not see that you too don't grasp Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's lessons about minds that hate not seeing clearly.

The 5,000 patterns of alternate reality from March 2013 that the Kremlin and Cambridge Analytica crafted since year 2022 have been fed into Large Language Models / machine training, so the number is basically endless now. Russia is not in control of this, it's a threat to all humanty. It's time to wake up to James Joyce's Finnegans Wake and Marshall McLuhan's teaching about Finnegans Wake or not. The Tower of Babel crisis has never been worse in human history because of what was unleashed in March 2013.
