A few observations about this community:

  • Most posts are economics-related news posts
  • not many (recent) posts about actual economics (though I haven't read many of the news posts, I'm guessing most don't go into much depth on the economic implications)
  • No description in the sidebar
  • No mods

I'd be pretty keen on a more theoretical economics community. Would it make sense to have a separate economic_theory community? Or would it be better to make a separate economic_news community?

Does anyone want to mod this community? Perhaps @MicroWave@lemmy.world or @cm0002@lemmy.world , since you two post a lot?

I think this community would serve well as a general community for economics, with pinned discussions for theory, policy, trends, etc. I think that would provide a lot of meaningful engagement and prevent a lot of posts boiling down to redundant or biased comments. I see too many economic discussions on Lemmy as a whole that don't focus enough on data and the context around it, or that quickly devolve into just policy.

What about the economics-related news posts? How would they fit in?
