Do they have any recourse to cure their ballot?
What's been ordered here is unprecedented, and what happens next is undetermined. There is no system for handling this. Also, please note, there is nothing to be cured about the ballots. It's the voters' registrations that the court has ordered immediately fixed.
Riggs won the election by 748 votes, after a second statewide recount. 60,273 registered voters showed the legally-required ID to early-vote, months ago. The voters' recourse? Presumably they'll be mailed orders to provide "either the last four digits of a Social Security number or a driver’s license number" within 15 days.
Whatever the specifics of how the State Board of Elections complies with this court decision, many voters won't respond, not because they lack the information but because they don't open unexpected mail, they've lost their physical Social Security cards, they don't have a stamp handy, they're out of town or in the hospital, whatever. The Republicans are hoping that, if enough people don't respond, the next recount of last November's election will nullify Riggs' narrow victory.
The court's ruling is bonkers, in my opinion.
