They were however not angry at the opportunity of killing innocent civilians, only that their whereabouts got leaked.

Tbf it is their job to follow the orders of their superiors without questioning them.

The trust factor here is that there superiors pick deserving targets and do their best to keep their soldiers safe.

Now I'm not arguing that innocent people deserve to die, the American govt has been pushing that boundary since 9/11 (some might argue WW2).

However the balance of trust is harmed here and that is pretty important. A military that loses faith in their leadership is a pretty big deal. It should've happened way earlier, due to Donald pissing on the graves of veterans, but it is pretty significant.
