I didn't quite understand why, if they made the piano, they used the alternative tuning.

The tuning was European, right? And when the pygmies where explained it was based in European lore. Maybe there's a connection.

(Or maybe Tatsu-sensei just wanted to brag about his knowledge of obscure piano facts)
