Have you tried using Chrome without setting it to the default browser or signing into a Google account? It may not be as in-your-face about it, but it is also persistently annoying about the user not having Google-flavored Stockholm syndrome.

Yes I have. It respects "don't remind me again" but Edge does not. Edge reminds me nearly everytime I open it and it isn't about default browser but about privacy settings it wants me to change to opt into all their analytics.
