Besides asking if it is real, shouldn't we be asking if "meat grinder" carries the same connotation in the Russian language?

In the articles it describes how the russian politicians responsible are getting flak and trying to backpeddle/cover up the issue so clearly language works here.

These Russian politicians look at "those plebs" exactly like how ceos look at workers. Amazing.

Yes, the word is used for both meanings. I doubt ruskies are using it to describe their tactics, though.
