A place to discuss positive changes that can make work more equitable, and to vent about current practices. We are NOT against work; we just want the fruits of our labor to be recognized better.
Our Philosophies:
- All workers must be paid a living wage for their labor.
- Income inequality is the main cause of lower living standards.
- Workers must join together and fight back for what is rightfully theirs.
- We must not be divided and conquered. Workers gain the most when they focus on unifying issues.
Our Goals
- Higher wages for underpaid workers.
- Better worker representation, including but not limited to unions.
- Better and fewer working hours.
- Stimulating a massive wave of worker organizing in the United States and beyond.
- Organizing and supporting political causes and campaigns that put workers first.

So, you have to give a little more than 48 hours notice when you decide to organize a large scale national protest action.
Look to be planning for the event to be somewhat out in the future, to give time for the plan to be spread and heard by the masses. When you just throw something like this out with two days' notice, you're not going to make any change larger than 0.00000001%... not enough people possibly hear about it to be able to participate.
Perhaps you need to plug into better sources.
This personally hit my "if I hear about this one more time I'm going to scream" level of exposure
I remember reading about it last month... Not sure what it will accomplish but it's easy to participate when one can't afford anything beyond food, shelter, and transportation despite working 40 hours per week plus mandatory overtime, at more than four times the minimum wage.
This has been all over lemmy, but... of course the corporate channels most people pay attention to wouldn't cover it.
IDK about you, but I've been hearing about this since January.
I had it in my calendar weeks ago to get my shopping for the weekend done today. Where have you been?
