Last weeks thread here

Welcome to this week’s casual kōrero thread!

This post will be pinned in this community so you can always find it, and will stay for about a week until replaced by the next one.

It’s for talking about anything that might not justify a full post. For example:

  • Something interesting that happened to you
  • Something humourous that happened to you
  • Something frustrating that happened to you
  • A quick question
  • A request for recommendations
  • Pictures of your pet
  • A picture of a cloud that kind of looks like an elephant
  • Anything else, there are no rules (except the rule)

So how’s it going?

Updating my flatmates PC BIOS so it can use a new CPU. 3 updates in and windows no longer boots. I guess my whole night is gonna be spent troubleshooting windows bullshit.

The other day I spent ages trying to troubleshoot why a partition wasn't mounting at boot, but mounts fine through the Disks program. Then later, trying to work out why mounting a new partition on /home (after copying all data across) broke everything.

Duplicate entries in /etc/fstab in both cases. I don't want to screw up something this important so I figure the GUI will do it right, but it never does. Couldn't even open firefox to search for answers 😅
