Fediverse vs Disinformation

1530 readers
4 users here now

Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.

Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.

What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.

By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.

Not me. There's also fake ones of me too using same graphics and same wording. And there's also one out there that uses my exact profile and wording, so not sure if same guy.

There was a dude who made a program to track all my posting times and how many posts I posted and would post it daily at the same time I made posts. So maybe him/her? I don't know. I have lots of stalkers in my fan club.

But there's def a troll trolling those of us who they think are the trolliest of trolls I guess: @UniversalMonk@sopuli.xyz

I banned a few of them from SJW yesterday. When I get some free time I can go through the list of candidates and ban the obvious impersonators. It would be easier if UniversalMonk didn't have so many alts to begin with.

And don't forget: UniversalMonk@sopuli.xyz

Cuz that's not me either.
