Everyone saying Nico because at the draft you don't know what you're picking but Divac could see the wonderboy at Real Madrid, it was quite obvious he would have been a very good player.
On the other hand, if Luka made clear he would not resign with the Mavs, the only bad of Nico would have been to sell low, not to sell.

And yet that wasn't the case. He's clearly still pissed about what happened, and pretty clearly wanted to sign his supermax in DAL.
It definitely does. I don't know why Silver's failing to act, other than that the move fits in to his plans, such as the new (casino) owners ruining the team so they can claim Dallas doesn't support it, so they can move it to Vegas. Still an awful look for the NBA, if so.
Btw, an article just came out by a team analyst that Dallas' analytics dept have thought for some time that Luka's impact isn't really equal to his numbers, and that it would be best to eventually trade him. Still, that doesn't seem to fit with 1) Luka just making the finals and 2) why Nico got such a pathetic return for him.
