I'm more amazed by Woolworths still being in the a thing! They had the weirdest lunch counter when I was a kid.

Woolworths in Australia has no relation to the US chain, they just share a name.

I meant Canada, where they closed in the 80's. No idea of the heritage.

Apparently the Canadian one was a subsidiary of the US one: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/F._W._Woolworth_Company

I'm old and yet I barely remember. They were the first big chain to go in Canada. Quickly followed by Simpson's.
