AFAICT the commission didn't call it off; the UFC tried to pressure Stephen to fight at a disadvantage against an overweight opponent, he declined, so they're declining to pay him.

Classic scummy UFC behaviour.

This is a better description of what happened than what I came up with. He’s being punished for not caving in.
