Etymology

From Proto-Finnic *koira, from earlier *koj(e)ra, from Proto-Uralic *kojera (“male animal”) (whence also koiras (“male animal”)), derived from Proto-Uralic *koje (“male, man”), in which case the word probably originally meant "male dog" specifically (and possibly displaced peni in the general sense of "dog").

I have trouble figuring out what the words are supposed to sound like. I can guess the pronunciation a few different ways. Ex. Ko-ear-a, ko-i-ra, ko-jeer-a, koj-era, koj-i-ra, etc.

Is it possible to add phonetic pronunciations to the posts?

I can do that.
