Show me your drawers people. I'll rate them.

I will add, if it works for you that's all that matters.

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 8 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Everyone here being all like "wah my drawers are so cluttered"

Well, this is what happens when one doesn't invest in a cutlery divider

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 7 points 7 months ago (1 children)

fuck me, our drawers are positively princely compared to you lot

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 3 points 7 months ago

This made me spit my water ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

[โ€“] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 3 points 7 months ago (2 children)

What is that white thing under the swirly straw? Also you need a little container just for the spoons. Fuck the rest. They'll live.

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (2 children)

the person shaped thing is the top half of a tea steeper, handled thing looks like a jar opener of some description

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 3 points 7 months ago

You're right about the person, the other white thing is a potato peeler facing away ๐Ÿ˜‚

[โ€“] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 3 points 7 months ago

That weird looking human thing I reckon is some sort of bottle opener.

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 4 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (1 children)

The human thing is the top part of a tea diffuser, his pants have the holes in them for the tea to steep, and the top makes it look like he's in a hot tub. The other white thing is a potato peeler ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

tea man

Oh gosh. @Taleya@aussie.zone was right. I've never seen anything like this in my life. He's kinda ugly cute.

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 4 points 7 months ago

I had another one that's a sloth, but I'm not sure where that's gone.

He's so very ugly cute ๐Ÿ˜ perf if I just want to make one cup of loose leaf tea.

Fuck we own some scissors.... and the third drawer is a disgrace. I'll fix it next week when I'm on leave.

So, so many scissors!

[โ€“] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago (1 children)

So colourful. That middle picture is beautiful. Rings on measuring spoons and cups shit me so they get removed immediately. The mandolin is danger.

[โ€“] Eagle@aussie.zone 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

The mandolin is in the very top half drawer for a reason, because it bites!

[โ€“] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 7 months ago

Tread carefully.

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 3 points 7 months ago

ohh I think that bottom piccy wins here. Impressive chaos.

[โ€“] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 6 points 7 months ago (4 children)
[โ€“] Eagle@aussie.zone 6 points 7 months ago (1 children)

The simplicity is superb. But how do you eat icecream?

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 4 points 7 months ago

With the fork, of course

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 6 points 7 months ago

At the end of the day, if we're being honest, practically that'd do pretty much everything.

[โ€“] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 7 months ago

Needs a wooden spoon.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 7 months ago (1 children)
[โ€“] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Beautiful. Knives, forks, spoons. Any other way is wrong. Great job.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 7 months ago

That's my everyday setting. The sporks are with the small cutting knives. I have the brass Thai setting in a box and some spare everyday settings in the second drawer. There is husband's grandma's silver plate setting in a wooden canteen in the dresser.

[โ€“] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I'm impressed. Genuinely. I think I'd go knife, fork, spoon, steak knife but close enough. โœ…

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 7 months ago

I don't have steak knives. When I cook the steak is tender enough to cut with a dinner knife.

[โ€“] Baku@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago (1 children)

It's a little sad because I still have a fair bit to load in. And I lost my bottle opener in the move

DepressoDrawer2000

I will get dividers eventually, and I do have more spoons and other cutlery. It just didn't seem worth taking everything out of its packaging if I don't need them yet. The stains, chips, and various specs were complimentary, and aren't interested in moving out

And I still only have 1 knife. Hoping on Monday I can ask somebody to take my phone and run a knife block through the checkout

[โ€“] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 3 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Oh darling that's not bad. Have you seen Eagle's? Nah you're doing good mate. โœ…

[โ€“] Eagle@aussie.zone 6 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Oi! I will say I have a few years on Baku, and a child that increases your plastic shit tenfold, and a dabble in cake decorating too. But you're good Baku, you've got what you need and that's more than I had at your age.

[โ€“] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 3 points 7 months ago

Oh shit yeah. My cake forks have turned into forks for tuna cans. ๐Ÿคฌ

[โ€“] Catfish@aussie.zone 2 points 7 months ago

I've not included all the cake/sugar work stuff. That's a whole other set of boxes.

[โ€“] Baku@aussie.zone 2 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (1 children)

It's mostly the lack of things that makes it sad. But anyone, if you want a bonus one, this was the state of chaos(ish) at the last place. I don't have any photos of it, but one of the housemates did her best to organise it and sent a video which I stole a screenshot from

spoiler

It wasn't too bad, because it was too bad when I moved in. 4 people all cooking their own things and usually waiting until the end of the day (or the next dishwasher cycle) to wash them meant we required a lot of tongs and spatulas. There's a method to the madness, but it didn't last longer than 2 days before it was chaotic again

[โ€“] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 1 points 7 months ago

That is more like an average shit gadgets drawer.

I failed miserably to take a pic of my cutlery drawers (I think my phone camera is broken) - so you'll have to make do with the everyday cooking hooks taken using my laptop camera. Yes I keep coffee sachets in a diced tomato tin. Waste not want not. Includes a portrait of my absolute fab fave aluminium egg flip/general purpose stirrer that I found at a garage sale and have been in love with ever since.
