"Morning buddy!" "No" Okay then.

[–] mysticgreg@aussie.zone 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

As someone currently experiencing a very severe case of the Mondays, if someone morning buddy'd me they'd be wishing it was Tuesday already.

Good Morning, See you next Tuesday.

[–] mysticgreg@aussie.zone 2 points 10 months ago

That about sums it up.

Only thing worse than 'buddy' is 'champ'.

'Pal' is up there, but that's usually confrontational.

Calling someone buddy is a cardinal sin of socialising

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 7 points 10 months ago

when hes old enough to complain I'll stop

Champ is the worst thing you can call and Australian. Call me a cunt any day of the week, you call me Champ and it's over

@Baku @LowExperience2368

No it's not.
It's prison slang.
Largely popularised by the fantastic Aussie crime series "Mr.Inbetween"

So unless you have associates who have been to prison...or fedora wearing "aaakshually..." mates....you can call folks Champ all you want...

...Champ.
