“inhospitably cold” doesn’t work for the joke,

Black holes are freezing cold on the inside, but incredibly hot just outside.
The internal temperature of a black hole with the mass of our Sun is around
one-millionth of a degree above absolute zero.

This is a comic. It is not a peer-reviewed science article. The joke works - you're just over-analyzing it and doing a common "well, actually" to try to tear it down and show everyone that you have some nugget of knowledge. There's nothing wrong with the joke - it's a webcomic, it doesn't have to be 100% factually true in every known universal case...if comics/humor had to do that then they wouldn't be funny.
