NEW YORK, July 28 (Reuters) - A U.S. judge on Friday shot down Johnson & Johnson's (JNJ.N) second attempt to resolve tens of thousands of lawsuits over its talc products in bankruptcy, imperiling a proposed $8.9 billion settlement that would stop new lawsuits from being filed.

in the "corporations are people" doom-world, imagine if a person tried this: "I have a billion dollars at my disposal but the part of me that answers to legal judgments is bankrupt." I've seen some audacious claims in my day but this is an absolute jaw-dropper.

If I knowingly and intentionally spent 50 years giving mothers and children cancer, I might face some kind of consequences. But if I take their money while doing it, worst case I might have to give a small fraction of it back.
