Today's weather forecast (Melbourne CBD, 3000): min - 13ยฐC, max - 22ยฐC. 90% chance of no rain

We're back to the DDT now. Feels good to be home, right?

I bought a box of chiko rolls on Friday. They go good in the air fryer. Better than expected

I remember their ad in the fish n chip shop; with a leather bikini girl, on a harleyesque chopper, holding the chicko roll like a cock she was about to suck. Imma say 1987. Even then as a kid I remember thinking why would you advertise a product like that.

We had her on the wall in the tea room at work

[โ€“] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 2 points 8 months ago

Memories! My bro had her in his bar room for years

Oh god, I remember those ads! And the big m ads with bikini girls pouring milk down themselves.

Ah yes, the

Chiko Chick

She was replaced in 2008. From the Wikipedia page: "In 2008, the company began a nationwide search for the new "Chiko Chick", hoping to downplay the traditionally raunchy look in favour of a more wholesome "girl next door" image."

She was replaced by Annette Melton who played Regina DeFrancisco in Deadly Women

I've never actually had a chiko roll. Is that horribly un-Australian of me? I don't think I've ever had one of those fish shop dim sims either, they always look a bit gross to me.

[โ€“] Baku@aussie.zone 3 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Probably. I think they're kinda dying off these days though. I've been in 6 fish and chips shops so far that said they didn't do them anymore. Admittedly though, 2 of those were weird hipster ones bragging about everything being low sodium and didn't even do potato cakes

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 3 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I fucking hate those places. Can't do a decent fryup for shit and charge excessively for it

[โ€“] Baku@aussie.zone 2 points 8 months ago

Yep. Hipster cafes are usually okay, the best coffee I've ever had came out of a hipster cafe (though they did have pricing to match). Hipster fish and chippies though, hell nah. I don't want low sodium chips with msg free chicken salt! I want the filthiest, most unhealthy, deepest fried chips with the most artery clogging chicken salt you'll give me!

Were they frozen? You could try microwaving them first, then paint them with some vegetable oil, then airfry them.

[โ€“] Baku@aussie.zone 3 points 8 months ago

Sure are

The air fryer is more than fine though

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I actually really like them. ๐Ÿ™‚

[โ€“] Llabyrinthine@aussie.zone 1 points 8 months ago

I also feel weird that I like them.
