Through some sort of weirdness of the insurance industry it has turned out to be cheaper to get comprehensive insurance for my car than third party. Renewal of the third party with RACV was going to be just over $500, a basic comprehensive policy with AAMI is $342. Even with AAMI the third party policy would have been more expensive. I have no idea why, but obviously the underlying risk assumptions for the policies have some sort of different risk calculations that work out in my favour.

I’ve got to sort out new car insurance soon, so all the comments about it today are really helpful. Have been with RACV for years but it might be time to switch
