Hello,

Would it be possible to have weekly discussion threads? This usually helps giving people a place to chat without having to create posts themselves

This community is way too inactive for weekly threads. They'll be empty or nearly empty most of the time.

But how can the community become active if there are no threads?

Seems like a chicken and egg problem

A community can be more active only if there are more active people in it. Simracing is a niche which does not cross with the natural Lemmy niche (privacy and digital rights) very much. Therefore (in my opinion) the way to make this community more active is to advertise Lemmy on places which are more known to simracing fans.

It still has 487 monthly active users.

advertise Lemmy on places which are more known to simracing fans.

Do you have suggestions for this?

Reddit. Specific forums (like the Fanatec's one) may not necessarily like the idea of advertising or offtopic of any kind.

I can tell you than Reddit mods are not going to like it that much more

Well it depends on the subreddit. After all the simracing fans don't only use it for simracing stuff.

Indeed. Would you try to reach out to them to post about this community?
