I didn't want to start the quest yet on a new save but I was just traveling around space on the uc vanguard quest and bumped into the quest that started the mission.

I died so many times from being two shotted haha and ended up really far away and I had to grav jump from system to system to get back afterwards. At least I got some decent pistols
