The monsters are the best part of Resident Evil, a shame other media keeps forgetting that

And the idea that a virus is not 100% effective and that there are a significant number of naturally immune people out there, rather than it needing to be the MacGuffin plot point and the narrative avoiding all bite wounds.
I mean the game was called Biohazard in Japan. Resident Evil just sounds like a silly name with the setting rarely in a mansion.
