The balloon analogy fails at demonstrating the 3 dimensional nature of space-time. The dough analogy makes way more sense, ESPECIALLY at scale, because on a universal scale, the galaxies won't look as if they're expanding.

Doesn't the balloon also fail to illustrate scale effectively? No one here is expecting a 1:1 model of the universe expanding, but a small section showing the basic principle.
