Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

yes lets put the man that single handedly collapsed the EV market and obliterated Twitter in charge of "streamlining" the government, that is a great idea!

[–] vzq@lemmy.blahaj.zone 59 points 1 year ago (2 children)

He’s totally going to fire every single federal employee and then complain that he can’t renew his passport.

[–] kusuriya 34 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Then he is going to scream that if public servants are not at their offices 95 hours a week they are not committed to the cause then when he finds out they have a union he will be triggered and forced to go into a quiet room so he can cry about how the big mean workers want him to fail.

"the dmv is going to have to be a bit more hardcore until they can turn a profit"

Good luck with that. A good portion of us are unionized.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

Ask the air traffic controllers who went on strike in the 80s how that helped.

If the president can supersede a union, no worker is safe.

Having Elon anywhere near government anything is a terrible idea and he's an awful human but what's this about the EV market? I thought it was doing fine. Twitter though yeah that has been just...a large wtf per minute value for sure.

[–] skysurfer@lemmy.world 33 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, the EV market is fine, just Tesla sales which have dropped some, lowering numbers for the total EV market. Sales continue to be strong for other EV manufacturers, just one brand slowing down for some strange reason..... Almost like someone has started to alienate their core customer base....

[–] madjo@feddit.nl 13 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yeah, I'm actively shopping for an EV and Tesla is not on the list. Not just because of Elmo though. I need physical buttons for the AC and radio and I like my cars to be pretty. But Elmo is definitely another reason why I'm not even looking at a Tesla.

[–] kusuriya 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

yeah if you look at the stats of the market, its been all over sites like Bloomberg and Forbes, the EV market is imploded because "Americans don't want EVs" but when you break it down by manufacturer the market is overall growing if you excluded tesla, but Tesla is the largest maker in the segment so as they dive the market as a aggregate takes a hit.

[–] dogslayeggs@lemmy.world -1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

https://ourworldindata.org/electric-car-sales

Show me where that implosion is. Just because Tesla is the biggest and is slowing down doesn't mean the entire market is slowing down.

[–] girthero@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Well you see the wrong people are getting richer... Thats a problem. /s

[–] AlexWIWA@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 year ago

That's exactly why they want people like him. The goal is to hit the government in the knees and then say "see? The government can't walk, we need to get rid of it"
