It actually is; I’ve seen the cops come up and request that someone stop screaming in public. They didn’t get in trouble but they also weren’t permitted to continue.

There's often public disturbance/disturbing the peace charges they can apply if they really want to press the issue too :/

Yeah. You can technically get charged for it, but mostly unless you really do something argumentative, the cops will just tell you to cut it out instead of giving charges.

I once watched a guy draw 3 separate citations in a row for disorderly conduct, 1-2-3, because he would not stop arguing with the police sergeant after either of the first two. It was sort of like “Godspeed you magnificent bastard” but also, dude, just calm down and walk away; you may be making a point in your own mind but all you are accomplishing is costing yourself money.

This one hits different if you or someone in your family has a mental disability. People 100% will call the cops on them.
