I have noticed that I switch night and day cycles during summer because it's too hot to function in the day.

The earth is getting hotter each year due to capitalism. With how capitalism works, capitalists aren't going to slow down or give a second thought for nature. At a certain level AC won't be enough and workers will end up collapsing or dying... Which lowers production, so I think that maybe in like 5 or 10 years (if not now already) we'll see some push for night shifts because it's colder in the night, burning the earth without affecting productivity. Will also limit chilling to lit up private properties that require payment or full of consumables like a Walmart because it's safer than idk sitting in a public park at 3 am. This will probably get spun around as a revolutionary good thing or something.

we'll probably end up sleeping during the day in what would be the equivalent of coffin shaped refrigerators tbh.

sleeping in coffins... that's already one part of being a vampire

when are we going to start "feeding on 'blood'"? (whatever this "blood" is going to be?)

Pretty sure I've already seen articles about USian oligarchs getting blood transfusions from younger people to supposedly boost their health. Can't find it right off the bat, sorry

It was a US billionaire siphoning off blood transfusions from his 17 year old son so he could stay younger and look better as he aged. He’s been doing it for several years at this point.

spoiler alert: he doesn't look any better

[–] ComradeSalad@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 2 years ago

He looks like he has jaundice.

He also looks like an absolute ghoul.

That's way more energy efficient than AC

I'm actually thinking of making a refrigerated coffin to sleep in so I don't have to air condition my house in order to sleep.

[–] CriticalResist8@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

oof, this is the kind of thing that sounds like it'll work up until it won't, and you're asleep for most of its operation time.

Yeah, but if it's efficient enough I can run it off of backup power in case of a blackout!

... I don't have backup power lol

Wouldn’t a window unit or stationary room cooler be better currently? Why cool they whole house?

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

My trailer came with central air so that's what I use right now, but yeah a window unit just for the bedroom would be more efficient. Mathematically I wouldn't save enough electricity to pay for a window unit, though.

But an extremely small coffin unit...!
