My ex and I got on one of the first such maps back in 2005 or so. Having a young child, we dug in a bit.

The vast majority of offenses seemed like no big deal. We were taken aback by what counts as a "sex offender". Don't know how to explain that statement. Maybe the offenses were far less "dramatic" than we expected?

And keep in mind, scoring a sex offender is great for the local DA's numbers. Kinda like how we see bullshit terrorism charges.

Why is there such a big concentration of sex offenders though?

Because cities are concentrated places, and prosecutors are incentivized to put people on the list for minor offenses?
