What if EU uses the money that they shovel in through tariffs, to subsidize EU based EV production?

In the US and Canada, auto industry lobbyists are more important so we’ll stick with gas cars as the only electric options start at $50k CAD which most people cannot afford.

Biden administration to award nearly $1.1 billion to Stellantis, GM for EV production

The Biden administration plans to award General Motors and Chrysler-parent Stellantis nearly $1.1 billion in grants to convert existing plants to build electric vehicles and components, it said on Thursday.

The Department of Energy (DOE) announced $1.7 billion in planned grants to help fund the conversion of 11 “at risk” plants in eight states to enable the production of 1 million EVs annually, help retain 15,000 existing jobs, and create 3,000 new positions.

Yup exactly what I was complaining about. The only EVs North America will allow are the giant overpriced and out of reach vehicles. Subsidies for the rich and well off.

It drives me nuts that I have a 17 year old car and have the cash on hand for a brand new $11k EV but I'm not allowed to buy it because Biden used the inflation act to block them.

There's no way to afford that $50k monstrosity so I guess I'll stop driving.

The best part is that you're labeled a tankie for pointing any of this out.
