Has its merits among the world's normies, but if that's not who you are, then that's fine too. :)
The easiest way to navigate social landscapes with people you don't fit 100% with is to latch on to the things that make you fit together.
Like, if sexuality is what sets you apart then focus on talking about books, current events (though if you're from the US, maybe not politics), hobbies etc.
My main squeeze is gaming, but I've gotten a bit to talk about regarding coffee after Covid.
You will always have something to bring to the table, and if the normies are secure in who they are, they won't mind you talking about your sexuality either.
I guess what I'm saying is that you're going to be fine. The normies are certainly not in lockstep like the post suggests, and that's alright. You just focus on being the best version of yourself, and it'll all be okay
