Winter clothes and blankets....in Dallas?

Not one to poke holes in a good deed, but I know Dallas and not too many days in the year one sees a coat in public.

If you're malnourished (as some homeless folks are) you're cold even in very warm weather. And you need even more warmth at night. So I'm guessing it was more welcome than you might think.
