i saw the tv glow talk and also transphobia
i have no idea where to find the scene but that one bit where Owen is sitting in the back of the movie theater with his coworkers after walking in on one getting a blowjob and he gets mocked saying "so did you like what you see, huh?" while Owen is staring at the floor wanting to die? yeah that scene pops up into my mind every time I hear about how trans women are "socialized male"questions
I really didn't understand that scene. Why are they making fun of Owen? Why is his co worker not embarrassed about being seen?socialized male? more like not socialized at all.
Pretty sure Owen is the youngest person in that scene or is supposed to be viewed as the youngest person in that scene.
They're essentially making fun of him for being (as the manager and the other employee sitting opposite Owen are assuming) a virgin.
It's an autism thing, they keep telling him to make eye contact.
When somebody is using sex as a weapon in this way, when the power dynamic and situation doesn't allow for the person being attacked to physically get away, the best you can do is look away and hope the passivity makes you a "less fun target".
