Around Germany and Greece there were other countries. They went by names like frugal four and PIIGS. They forced "austerity" and stricter working hours onto indebted countries to save their own banks.

The colours on this map show well that northern "productivity" is not about working hours, but about other topics that did not get addressed. Among these topics are also tax heavens (think the Netherlands) and money laundering (think Austria's special relationship with Russia).

So it was nothing more than poor political leadership without vision.

There are so many meme templates from USAian media, but there are lots of European movies, series, and art and it's not being used. The closest I found was https://framamemes.org/ but it's just USAian memes redrawn.

A hymn for Europe, for freedom and peace. I hope it’s ok to post it here, even though it’s in German.

Here’s a translation of the lyrics:

Hello Europe, this is your child speaking
I want to tell you how tired I am
Do you hear, Europe, how angry they sound
How loudly my brothers sing the praise of the old
We stand for the good, we have sworn to each other
I have already lost some sisters in the fight
They give the old a new look
Deceptively tame but certainly not good

Europe, Europe, do you hear the wind
How it loudly sings of hostility and borders
As one of your children, I'm begging you
That the old can not win again

I heard stories, I thought they were old
But now I know, the time has come again
The old men are being worshipped again
And the old thoughts are being taught again

Europe, Europe, do you hear the wind
How it sings the reverberation of our history
As one of your children, I'm begging you,
That the old can not win again. (2x)

Europe, tell me, why are we so blind
Don't see that we all are your children
Europe, listen carefully how it sounds
When old hatred infiltrates the hearts

Europe, Europe, do you hear your child
how much it craves for peace and freedom
I am one of your children and I'm begging you
Be a home to us, and a peaceful country
Be a home to us, bring us together again

The demoscene has become a national UNESCO-heritage in Sweden, thanks to an application that Ziphoid and me did last year. This has already happened in several European countries, as part of the international Art of Coding initiative to make the demoscene a global UNESCO heritage. I think this makes plenty of sense, since the demoscene is arguably the oldest creative digital subculture around. It has largely stuck to its own values and traditions throughout the world’s technological and economical shifts, and that sort of consistency is quite unusual in the digital world.

I haven't been able to find one. Neither for signal nor anywhere else. Does one exist and I just can't find it? Or should we crowdsource one together?
