Some people's unfortune, other people's luck.

I am giving away two smushes of Saponificio Varesino Tundra Artica. In order to claim a smush, you need to:

  • live in the EU
  • feel comfortable enough to send me your real ID and address
  • commit to use it and post about it on this piefed instance (and you will need to do this, because I will know where you live)

Attribution will proceed on a random draw with Python in 48 hours (or when I can be arsed to look this up). Please post anything below to manifest your interest. If you have won, we will figure out a way to contact securely.

Good luck, lemminards and piefolk!

As the winner of the March edition of the BVWSC, I was duty-bound to send soap smushes to my fellow shavers across the pond. Alas, as I am writing this, there is no legal and/or financially viable way of getting soap samples (or any letter, for that matter) from France to the USA.

Therefore, the BVWSC in its current form is dead. There has also been a notable decrease in interest, so maybe this is just the right opportunity to say farewell.

On the other hand, we might find a way of continuing the community event, but in a different form. Our go-to has been the Tabac edition – which seems to be the only type of gear every self-~~hating~~respecting wetshaver has. Or we could do something else.

So, what shall we do?

If you use PieFed in a web browser, there are various themes to pick from. I just discovered these sample images to help you choose: https://join.piefed.social/screenshots/

Just a heads up, and a bit of a "test post" to make sure people are seeing content in !wetshaving@wetshav.ing. If you can see this post, you'll see everything else coming this way.

I got around to getting myself a safety razor, brush, and soap a little while ago, and I'm very happy with no longer having to deal with awful machine shaves. However, I haven't settled with a good bowl for mixing up the soap. Currently I just go for something from the kitchen cabinet, and none of them are very convenient and it's all very breakable making me uncomfortable bringing it on top of the bathroom sink where things easily slide around.

Does anyone have recommendations either specifically for which bowl to get, or more generally what to look for in a good bowl? Shape, material, and stuff like that. Ideally I'd try to find something second hand, but right now I'm not even sure exactly what to look for.

I don't want anything plastic or American.

I've received my smush, so we're good to go for the 24th. Yay!

Friendly reminder: head over to lemmy, and do your civic duty (if you're allowed to).

Go over to Lemmy, and nominate your soap! Nominations close Tuesday 4th, 19:00 CET.

I'm still gaining experience in hosting PieFed, as the upgrading process is slightly different than what I'm used to. That said, we're up and running on the latest stable version, 1.2.2.

Hello new PieFed users.

The main wetshaving activities happen on Lemmy, but you can interact with Lemmy from here. Here's a feed of wetshaving communities to follow:
