Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

I know I'm not the only Taskmaster fan around here. Ran across this last night and thought it was interesting. Nice to see them getting along. Also, it was some nice little closure about something happened at the end of one of the episodes that had me curious.

Good discussion and a long one too. Nearly an hour. I felt Ben was a good guest too. And of course, there's Justine Medina as well.

Wanted to share this video from a small Marxist channel. I think it's a pretty good overview look at some details of the history of China, which might be easy to overlook, and the program that the CPC follows today, in a format that is easily digestable.

What the Ship (Ep100) | Red Sea Attacks After Three Months | Grain and Bulkers | Tankers | Container & Spiraling Ocean Rates | Role of Iran in Supporting the Houthis

In this episode, Sal Mercogliano - maritime historian @campbelledu - discusses the Top 5 Maritime Stories as of Feb. 22, 2024, with an emphasis on the Red Sea and the Houthi attacks on commercial shipping.

Takeaways-

  • Houthi weapons are diversifying in response to US defenses and now include sea drones.

  • He doesn't think they can salvage the Rubymar so it's likely to become the first ship sunk

  • Houthi attack frequency is increasing with time

  • There's growing tension between mariners because non-US crews can refuse to sail through the Red Sea while US crews can't.

  • Houthi attacks are focusing on bulk carriers and adding significant pressure to European cargo lines, especially grain to East Africa

  • Tanker ships are also being impacted heavily. Diesel supplies are being constrained in the US and Europe

  • Egypt's loss of canal traffic equates to a 5% national budget loss.
