Reddy is a small app that I've developped over the past few days, and I want to show it to you so you can give me your thoughts, advices and ideas for the app.

Reddy is a GTK Linux app that takes an image (PNG, JPEG, GIF) at random in a subreddit and allows you to repost it in any Lemmy community. I made it principally to share content easily on Lemmy, as Reddit becomes more and more abusive and I think having copies of some content of reddit here on Lemmy is not a bad idea.

The app comes with a few restriction to prevent abuse:

• You cannot repost the image twice in the same community
• The reddit post link will always be shown in the body of the post. To give credit where credit is due.

Also, the app fetch the title and NSFW status of the reddit post automatically, but you can change it as needed.

The app require a reddit API client id/secret (The free API seems to still be working as of now) and a Lemmy account.

I'd love to hear your thoughts about such app, if you have any concerns as an user or as an instance owner please share your thoughts!

Des étudiants bordelais devaient construire l'application d'une méthode pour aider au traitement du trouble autistique pour une association. Finalement, ils ne l'ont pas fait et ils expliquent pourquoi : nousnavonspasnumerise.mmibordeaux.com

Nous refusons de l'admettre, nous avons passé plusieurs jours dans le doute, à essayer de trouver des solutions pour répondre à ce que l'association voulait. Nous avons même entamé le développement d'une nouvelle version de notre application Bild. Nous, qui faisons des solutions numériques, nous n'avons pas compris que parfois, le papier fonctionne mieux que le numérique.

Bonjour, je réfléchi à créer un service de messagerie instantanée pour le plus grand nombre, c’est à dire à tous ceux qui ne peuvent pas s’auto-héberger ou pour qui la complexité est un grand mur.

A court terme ça sera pour quelques dizaines voir centaines d’utilisateur. À moyen terme des milliers voir des millions.

Et pour commencer j’aimerai que ce service permette de discuter avec des gens qui utilisent #matrix ou #xmpp pour ensuite l’étendre à toute les autres app et protocoles qui voudront.

Ma question est simple, sur quel techno/protocol/bridge vous partiriez ?

Je crois que c'est la fin de Mozilla et qu'on va rester un moment sur leur fork avant de migrer sur Servo, un autre moteur de rendu web.

Specifically, Mozilla plans to scale back its investment in a number of products, including its :

• VPN
• Relay
• Online Footprint Scrubber. 

Mozilla will also shut down Hubs, the 3D virtual world it launched back in 2018, and scale back its investment in its mozilla.social Mastodon instance. The layoffs will affect roughly 60 employees. Bloomberg previously reported the layoffs.

Going forward, the company said in an internal memo, Mozilla will focus on bringing “trustworthy AI into Firefox.” To do so, it will bring together the teams that work on Pocket, Content and AI/Ml.

Il faut arreter d’utiliser et de recommender “I don’t care about cookies”, ca a été racheté par avast, qui est un revendeur de donnée. A la place, pas besoin d’autre extensions, il faut juste correctement configurer uBlock Origin, et cocher les “Annoyances” dans les listes d’uBlock. Cela retire aussi les banières RGPD (donc ne les acceptes pas, contrairement a “I don’t care about cookies”);

Download Arctic on the AppStore!

I am thrilled to announce that Arctic is now available on the AppStore! Looking back, it's amazing to see how much progress Arctic has made in the last six months. Initially, I began working on Arctic as a personal project to fill the void after leaving Reddit during the API fiasco. I had no intention of releasing it publicly. Now, I have a fully-featured Lemmy client, a fantastic group of beta testers on TestFlight, and an official release on the AppStore.

However, the journey isn't over yet. I have many exciting plans for Arctic, and this is just a significant milestone. Going forward, I plan to release more targeted updates on TestFlight and create a public roadmap for AppStore releases.

I would like to thank everyone who was involved with Arctic's TestFlight for all the valuable feedback and suggestions that have helped shape Arctic!
