Mohammed Saleh, head of media relations at Syria’s Ministry of Information, has criticised investigations published by a foreign news agency about Syria’s economic conditions and the coastal events, saying the timing of publication and the agency’s disregard for official responses suggest that “political motives outweigh professionalism.”

For several months, Syrian government officials directly involved with the country’s economy have repeatedly stated their commitment to a policy of rejecting foreign borrowing, categorically refusing this option.

The US has agreed to a plan by Syria's transitional government to incorporate thousands of foreign extremist fighters into the national army, Reuters reported on 2 June.

US President Donald Trump's envoy to Syria, Thomas Barrack, told the news agency, “I would say there is an understanding, with transparency,” to incorporate the fighters into units under the control of the Ministry of Defense.

As part of the CIA-led covert war to topple the former Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad, tens of thousands of foreign Salafist extremists traveled to Syria to fight what they claimed was a jihad against the Syrian army. Radical fighters traveled to Syria, primarily via Turkiye, from across the world, including China, and Europe, to join Al-Qaeda groups, including Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and ISIS.

I'm learning Arabic and I have a question about the Syrian Arabic dialect, specifically the one spoken in Damascus: which word would you use for "therefore"? From different levantine speakers I've heard لَهيك , مشان هيك , عشان هيك. But I don't know which one would be normal to use in Damascus.

Syrian army forces have begun entering Tishrin Dam east of Aleppo province, under an agreement signed between the Syrian Ministry of Defense and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) that previously controlled the area.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported today, Saturday, April 12, that the Syrian army and security forces from the Ministry of Interior have started entering Tishrin Dam in the eastern Aleppo countryside.

It added that the army’s entrance to the area aims to impose security and stability there, in accordance with the agreement reached with the SDF.

وفي سياق متصل، أكد "تجمع أحرار حوران" المحلي أن عناصر الأمن العام شرعوا في استلام السلاح من مقاتلي اللواء الثامن سابقاً في مختلف مدن وبلدات محافظة درعا.

يسود التوتر الأمني ريف درعا الشرقي، ولا سيما مدينة بصرى الشام، منذ مساء الخميس، إثر حملة اعتقالات نفذها "اللواء الثامن" التابع لـ"الفيلق الخامس" بقيادة أحمد العودة، ترافقت مع إطلاق نار، وانتشار أمني مكثف، وفرض حظر تجوال في عدد من الأحياء.

وفي حين روجت صفحات مقربة من العودة أن الحملة تستهدف متورطين في تجارة المخدرات، نفت مصادر مطلعة هذه الادعاءات، مؤكدة أن الاعتقالات طالت عناصر سابقين في فصائل المعارضة و"اللواء الثامن"، ممن قدموا طلبات انتساب حديثة إلى وزارة الدفاع السورية.

The Israeli army announced the execution of a ground incursion into Daraa province, coinciding with airstrikes, which resulted in the deaths of civilians.

The Syrian government has reached an agreement with the forces affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) operating in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods of Aleppo in northern Syria, which stipulates coordination between the two sides and the gradual withdrawal of the latter.

The agreement, which took place between the Civil Council of the Ashrafiyeh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods and the committee appointed by the presidency, consists of 14 clauses:

The British website Middle East Eye reported that Turkey is preparing to establish an air defense base at the military airport “T4” near Palmyra in Homs, central Syria.

According to informed sources not named by the website, Ankara aims to build the base to target the Islamic State group and deter Israeli aerial attacks on Syria.

Middle East Eye stated yesterday, Tuesday, April 1, that construction plans for the site are underway.
