Hello. Right now there is two way to turn on/off the gyroscope. By placing your thumb, over the right joystick, or the trackpad.

Is there a way to turn off the right joystick trigger for the gyroscope and only keep the right trackpad ? It is a bit ammoying when you play to chaiki4deck and suddenly the camera moves because you moved your deck as you had your thumb on the right joystick. Yes I could keep away my thumb. But that's my decades thumb resting position....

Thanks.

I used https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/pc-gaming/how-to-install-windows-on-steam-deck to set up Windows-To-Go for a few games that won't work in SteamOS. It seems to be working fine, but now I wonder if this would work…

I currently have a 1 terabyte SD card that I'm using for SteamOS. I know Linux partitions can be shrunk, so I'd like to shrink it down to half the size. Then I'd clone the partition(s) from the Windows-To-Go SD card to the now-empty space on the 1 terabyte SD card.

I think I''ll need to clone the Windows partition(s) to the beginning of the drive. So when I make the empty space by shrinking the Linux partition, I'll create the empty space at the beginning of the drive.

I'll be using GParted and Clonezilla since I'm used to them.

I have two questions:

  • Will Windows care that the second half of the SD card has a LInux partition? I don't want/need it to see or read/write to the Linux partition.
  • Will SteamOS still see the Linux partition automatically as if nothing's changed and just ignore the new Windows partition(s)?

How's the performance? Any issues?

Roblox updated their client some months back, and the anticheat didn't work with Linux at all. However, it looks like they're working on fixing this and the game is now playable on their very early access "zcanary" builds.

I suspect this Lemmy Steam Deck community has an older average age, and as a result may not have that many Roblox players. But the popularity of the game is undeniable and having it work on Steam Deck again will be great for a lot of people.

Adding to a growing list of new features to be released in the 3.5 update, a new temperature color option has been added. It lets you set the blue to yellow light range of the screen.

Other additions coming in the 3.5 update include a saturation slider, HDR support for external displays, additional display upscaling options (including Nvidia Image Scaling), improved SMT handling (no more needing to turn SMT off for emulators), updated kernel, and more stuff that I'm probably forgetting.

Got the email a few mins ago and it’s already sold out. I doubt the interest was that much, did anyone here snag one?

I have an Anker Powercore that has enough output to charge the SD while playing, so just wondering what is the most efficient method to get the most out of both power sources for long haul flights.

For some reason I hadn't tried gyro on steam deck before but I'm glad that I did, it's pretty cool! Breath of the Wild style of aiming 😌

I don't play on mobile so I haven't experienced gyro before and just got used to suck at aiming with controllers lol

Excluding adding an external keyboard and mouse, what quality of life changes can be made to the deck to make keyboard and mouse work less terrible?

Hello!

I've been trying to get chivalry 2 working on my steamdeck. I've done the following things:

But it keeps on kicking me out of games after 1 or 2 minutes saying that the easy anti cheat connection didn't work. I'm out of things to try, so I'm hoping any of you know something I can try (:

Thank you in advance.

New update adds controller support, fixes performance problems in some areas, and added some other new content. The game is now Steam Deck Verified.

Full patch notes are available here.

I’ve been really wanting to get a steamdeck. I’ve been playing a lot on my modded switch, but there is a lot I want to play that is not available on the switch.

Does anyone have both systems and still use the switch?

I imagine I can just dump my games and emulate them on the Steamdeck.

I don’t do anything online, so I can’t imagine I’ll miss out on anything.

Im an experienced Linux gamer, so im not worried about the Linux side of things.

The 256GB and 512GB Steam Decks come with some digital rewards, such as an exclusive steam profile customization bundle and a unique virtual keyboard (keyboard is 512GB only). Previously these rewards were not available to refurbished deck buyers, but Valve plans to change that and make these rewards available regardless of whether you buy new or refurbished.

Interesting review IMO, with colour accuracy comparison and benchmarks of DeckHD vs. original screen (and other "known good" screens).

I would be more tempted by an OLED screen upgrade, but colour accuracy looks pretty good tbh. Pricing is in line with an official (matte) screen replacement from ifixit - $99 USD.

P.s. Reddit mods deleted this because it "wasn't related to the Steam Deck.". This is my first post on Lemmy. Please be nice and at least let this languish in obscurity rather than remove it outright and cut off any hope of discussion. :(

I'm sharing this because I couldn't neatly carry everything I wanted or needed to carry in the stock case, with the stock power adapter, and I think I got lucky with some accessory tetris from which others might benefit. I am pretty happy with my Steam Deck carrying case setup, but it's not 100% perfect: the battery is just a bit too big, and the deckmate clip or adhesive square don't help, but (almost) everything I want fits safely, if a bit snugly. I'm notably missing some earbuds.

I'm also sharing this because I'd like to know what your Steam Deck gear bag or carrying case setup looks like. Perhaps you also got lucky with your accessory purchases such that everything fits perfectly? If so, please share!

Let me be more specific, it’s stuck after an update after a factory reset, I was having some problems with the deck getting stuck in screen off mode unless I pressed the volume buttons, in which case it would turn the screen on for a second then turn off again. So I decided fuck it, factory reset. It came back in but had an update pending so I did. Here’s where the problems start, I update and it got stuck in a boot loop, okay, so I do the 3 dots and power button to go back to a previous version or whatever, it works fine and plays games until I try to update again, this time in the beta build, now upon restarting it hangs at the steam deck logo once again.

I’ll admit I tinkered a bit under the hood but nothing I would consider crazy enough to cause a brick. Heaviest thing I think I did was change the ram to 8gb or something using cryoutilities l, any ideas what I broke?

Glad co-op is finally here, going to get some good use out of my dock.

ProtonDB now has separate tabs for easier browsing of Steam Deck or PC reports. You can also view a combined tab that includes reports from both.

Both categories can be pretty useful, but some game fixes can only be found in the PC section. A lot of the PC report creators are more experienced Linux users and know of fixes that may not show up in the Steam Deck section.

I had some performance problems. Suddenly, steam deck lost about 60% of its performance in games. My troubleshooting didn't help. After that, I contacted steam support. We were talking for about a week, but nothing helped, so they agreed to send me a replacement.

I have to say… The fresh vent smells even better than I remember.

As mainly a console gamer over the years, I've become quite used to playing with a controller that has vibration. I feel that this is one thing the Deck is missing out on.

So I'm wondering if it's possible to somehow connect up a small vibration motor (externally) that can be connected to the Deck, and have it recognised as a controller?

Possibly more effort than it's worth but would be interesting to see if anyone has any ideas.

I really enjoyed the RE:2 remake but for some reason I haven't been interested in getting over the difficulty curve of RE:4. RE:7 seems to be a much similar slow paced trip through an unfolding building and I wanted peoples opinions of the game and its current level of performance on the deck. I really enjoy 60 fps but I can go lower if it is stable. I am also okay with turning graphics down if it still looks decent and can get me more battery life.
