I have got some CS items that I can turn into monies in my Steam wallet that I again could turn into a Steam Deck. The only problem is that I live in Norway and therefore can not.

I am tempted to switch my location to Sweden and order it to an address there since I live quite close, but I am wondering if this would break TOS or in some other way make this unviable?

Thank you for any helpful advice or suggestions!

Any time I put the device to sleep, the top bar disappears on resume and I cannot get back to or launch any game. They do launch, but the menu window keeps focus and prevents me from accessing them.

I've gone through several stable updates and the issue remains.

Has anyone had the same issue ? Is there any fix short of reimaging ?

Edit: workaround thanks to Blxter@lemmy.zip:

"Found a temporary work-around - it's somehow related to the "Wake Movie." In the Steam menu on the left, go to "Settings," down to "Customization," then turn off "Use as wake movie." Should work the next time you "Sleep" "

Do you need to leave the Steam Deck open to download something on i.e. Firefox in desktop mode or will it just download perfectly in standby mode? I know that it's basically a PC and it should work but since I'm planning to get one I want to be sure.

I know this isnt soley a steamdeck issue but its driving me crazy. Everyday I get from work im super stoked to play my new steam deck and every day with out fail it has 3-7 gigs worth of updates to install for apex.

When I get home, im ready to play. I dont want to sit and watch this thing update.

I dont want to play any other games.

And even if I do, say play dead cells perhaps, it links to the cloud and stops updating apex.

Its so frustrating to be excited for somthing and wait for it all day. Just to get home and have to sit and wait for another 30 mins watching it trickel in.

Id rather do chores.

Also the new revanent suck.

End rant.

While it was playable before through 3rd party tools, this will make it much more accessible to many Steam Deck players.

Hello folk wondering if you could help perhaps.

I am trying to use my Switch Pro controller and the left trigger is not being detected at all by the Deck.

I tested it on the switch and it works no problem, so I know its not a mechanical issue. I also made sure controller was updated as well via the switch.

I can connect the pro to the deck no issue all buttons work other than left trigger. I remove, readded, updated deck, restarted no luck.

Its not in just game, even on the deck input test it gets no signal on the left trigger at all.

I also tested xboxOne controller just to see and it works fine.

Any ideas?
Thank you :)

I've seen people ask many times why an application doesn't have sound anymore. I've had it multiple times. The answer is always, go to sound settings in desktop mode, open the Applications tab and unmute the application there. But how did it get muted in the first place?

I feel so stupid, but the answer is so simple that I wonder if most people don't already know it. You can mute/unmute an application by clicking the top-right area of its icon on the task bar. In handheld, I think this is so small that I didn't notice it, but finally I did.

I've wondered for a while now how some applications got into this muted state. This probably also explains why clicking an application's icon sometimes seemed to do nothing, as if the application froze. Instead, I was just muting and unmuting it!

I know this might be a bit of a long shot, but I figured I would give it a go;

I am trying to get Tyrian 2000 to work properly on my Steam Deck, via installing it from my gog library on Heroic. While it managed to install correctly I have a few issues that need to be resolved before I can continue;

The controller support is non-existent. I am unsure if that is fixable, though I suspect I might be able to get around it by remapping the Steam Deck controls. Not really a problem though if anybody knows a solution I'd be happy to hear it.

The real issue is that the music is not playing. Sound effects work just fine, so far, but I don't get any music. I suspect it has something to do with Dosbox, given the age of the game in question.

Horizon Chase 1 ran great on the Deck, was a really fun game to play. Now I tried Horizon Chase 2 and was surprised how bad the performance is. It’s stuttering and freezing every few seconds rendering the game unplayable. Has anyone in here tried it yet? Is there anything I’m missing or is the game just badly optimised?

EDIT: I found the solution! I was using Heroic Launcher, which I’ve been using to install all my non-steam games. It caused the stuttering and freezing for some reason. Installed it directly via Steam and now it works fine!

As per title.

Deck is being sent for repairs as the D-pad has stopped working entirely.

Has anyone had to factory reset and restore where they're using EmuDeck?

Installed emulators, games, and particularly the saves, have a bad feeling I'm gonna lose some stuff in this process.

"There is not a native app on Steam deck today," said Andrew Fear, GFN boss, back in January. "Use a Chromium browser to make it work. I would say that both Nvidia and Valve, I think we're both interested in making [GeForce Now on Steam Deck] better. But we don't have any announcements on a native app coming to Steam."

So during one of the Xbox Game Pass promotions I signed up for a few months and ended up buying Forza Horizon 4 on sale. I am trying to find a way to play it on Steam Deck, but so far all I have found is guides on how to use the streaming on the Game Pass to play on Steam Deck, which only works with an active Game Pass sub (in my understanding). Has anyone found a way to get games that you have bought through the Windows Xbox store on Steam Deck? I would love to play FH4 on my Deck!

I doubt this is news to anyone here, but always good to see positive coverage of the Deck

I’m trying to put a vinyl skin on my Steam Deck, and I’m having trouble; it keeps wrinkling up at the bottoms of the grips. Any suggestions?

Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 landed recently, and now I've had time to play with it here's a look at how it runs on Steam Deck and desktop Linux after the update. The good news is: it runs out of the box with Proton. My testing has been with Proton Experimental.

Quick tip - want to skip the launcher? Add this as a Steam launch option: --launcher-skip

For the Steam Deck, I've been testing it on SteamOS 3.5 Preview, where it does in fact run quite well. On Low and Medium, it can for the most part stay above 30FPS and a lot of the time when you're not doing explosive action in the open world, it can even stick around 40FPS. However, even on the Low settings, intense open world action will bring it down but Medium with FSR2 keeps it pretty smooth.
