How would you rate the OLED deck? Did you keep your LCD deck? Have you noticed any of the smaller improvements like a more responsive touch screen? Has the battery life improvement been noticable?

I have a steam deck dock in the living room, with a dualsense and some joy-cons paired to it. Are there any games similar to Ring Fit that work well on PC/Steam? Do I need a new controller or can I use these?

I've just installed Epic Game Launcher on the Deck and had an issue where the starting screen was black. I've already find the fix in * this discussion.

Here's the copy of the post

I found something that seems to work. In the 3rd party launcher in Steam used for the Epic game launcher, go to Properties->Shortcut->Target, and change the text to:

"{The path to the epic game launcher}/EpicGamesLauncher.exe" -opengl

I was wondering since I own the OLED Deck why they are still displaying ads in the store about it. What's the point?

Edit Sorry about the ugly word vomit from lemmy ripping out the video description on peertube, I didn't know it was going to do that

I decided to try Xonotic on my steam deck using joysticks + gyro to see if I could play somewhat competitively. Turns out, it is a blast!

Not claiming I am amazing at Xonotic (the bots are HARD btw) but wow there is a huge potential here for strafe jumping mechanics with games designed to be controlled by joysticks + gyro. It is a blast!

I need it now.

I’m not a designer, but I can appreciate thoughtful explanations from passionate people, and I very much enjoyed watching her walk through her thought process.

Further, I find steam to be incredibly clunky, and I’d love to see them adopt her design.

Basically the title. Sometimes I turn on the deck and the SD card icon is in the top bar, it shows it's connected but doesn't see any games on it and prompts me to format (and also shows it only has 30mb of space). ~~Rebooting and/or~~ removing and reinserting the SD card seems to fix it until the next time. I'm really not sure why, unless the card is failing and I need a new one? This happened on both my old lcd and the new oled deck so I don't think it's the port. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Doesn't have any new info for any existing deck owners, but it's always nice to see positive coverage and opinions.

How could Valve do this to us?

Website states that they haven't tried it yet. Does someone own one with an Oled Cable and wants to try it out? Would be appreciated.

Cheers

So I've run mods on a bunch of different games which were downloaded and installed with the deck alone. No man's sky, lethal company, Subnautica, etc. with generally no problems but some modding software run through wine had visual bugs but the games worked as intended.

So I thought I'd try something bigger and install fallout ttw. I installed the base games from gog without issue, and MO2 ran fine with my overridden default of wine-ge. Even the ttw installer seems to work... slowly. I started it two days ago and the picture is now. I guess some mods you really are better off using a beefier computer and transferring the final product.

I have replaced the original 512GB SSD with a 2Tb one and reimaged the drive. Do I need to keep the original drive for warranty purposes in case I need to return the device, or I can re-purpose it or sell it out?

You can play halo infinite VERY competitively with joysticks and gyro too, it feels made for steamdeck controls especially with the heavy focus on (absolutely amazing) vehicle combat.

A month ago or so it was crashing really regularly on me, but now it seems to be working fine. I can easily get a steady ~50fps with the graphics all the way down. Yeah, the graphics don't look amazing on low and there are weird graphical artifacts sometimes but it is far from ugly and the core halo gameplay is just so well balanced at the moment that who cares how it looks when it plays like that.

(yeah it used to suck, it doesn't anymore)

I have the LE OLED deck and I love it. Is there a way to lower the rattling the face buttons experience?

Need some wisdom from y’all about deciding to upgrade or not. Not sure if it is worth or not. Waiting 2-3 years for a SD2 is pretty far away, right? This is my only gaming rig.
