Been doing quite a bit of in-home streaming from PC to Steam Deck lately, and decided to give Chiaki4Deck a try for PS5 to Steam Deck in-home streaming. Works like a charm; great graphics (including HDR), touchpad and haptics support, and QoL stuff like sleeping your PS5 when exiting the Steam Deck’s stream session.

Here is the guide I used: https://streetpea.github.io/chiaki4deck/setup/configuration/

This also fixes an error when launching some games, which was a nasty bug I believe I ran into on the previous beta.

Hello,

I purchased two Stadia controllers to connect with my Stream Deck via Bluetooth. While one functions as expected, the other presents an issue.

Here's the sequence of events:

  • Initially paired the controller with the Stream Deck, and it worked.
  • Turned off the Stream Deck and turned it back on.
  • Unable to connect the controller to the Stream Deck, both automatically and manually.
  • Only after removing the second controller from the Bluetooth devices, I can pair it again (and it works until I suspend the Deck again).

Does anyone have any insights into what might have gone wrong? The other controller is functioning correctly, leading me to suspect an issue with the second controller.

I mean old like Sega Rally Revo. This is not my video, but it sums up my experience playing in deck. The graphics doesn't feel too old when compared to today's games and I'm not sure why but I always get above 100fps even i limit deck settings to 60.

I dropped my launch edition steam deck last night on carpet and while all the buttons still worked- something was rattling inside of it. After I opened it up I discovered a missing chunk of plastic from the R2 trigger, that piece presses against another to keep the button from over articulating. I suspect this trigger absorbed most of the impact, there was no other visible damage.

Of course I was upset that I broke it, but so very pleasantly surprised to find ifixit had the trigger in stock and reasonably priced. This availability made me love the deck even more, and really the fact valve made these parts available places the deck above any other competition in my mind.

This machine is built to last, I am so excited to get it fixed and get back to gaming.

Hey folks, I wanna gift a steam deck to myself. The main games I’ll (infrequently) play on there are CS:Go and age of empires 2 HD, both of which I own and never get a chance to play on a regular PC.

I suppose I want the OLED one. Is it ok to go for the 64 GB version or should I go for the higher storage tier? It has expandable storage yeah? Or is that not reliable or fast enough?

Also, what’s going on with the pricing? It’s just obviously better to buy direct. Why are people trying to sell it on Amazon? I get people trying to sell on eBay and Craigslist but Amazon? What’s the deal there?

~~The game is also on sale from $20 > $8~~

Edit: looks like the sale ended since I made the post.

What are some good games you play that you think are good for extended travel (i.e. battery friendly)? Emulation and TDP-adjusted options count!

Of course there are many non-verified games that run fine as well.

For comparison, the Switch has somewhere between 5,000 and 10,000 games.

Source: Wikipedia lists about 5000, Nintendo says “over 5000”, but this website claims 10,880. Part of why the Moby Games website lists more is because it lists multiple versions of a game as separate games (Xenoblade DE is listed 4 times for example).

It also shows you what devices are even capable of waking the deck while it's asleep.

To install it you need to first have Decky installed, and then look for BT Wake Control in the Decky store.

I love my deck because

  • it can play Steam games fairly well
  • it can play emulated game really well
  • but most importantly it's a linux computer, I can browse the web, watch a movie, even be productive on it, and I sometimes don't even need to plug in a mouse and keyboard or an external screen !

But I was wondering what kind of uses other people have with it, as a non gaming machine?

I post his as a way to gather some information an suggestions.

Basically i already have Yuzu installed through emudeck and for now it still works. So, will emudeck unistall/disable yuzu automatically? Should i disable Emudeck updates ? Anyone have some link to download yuzu?

I read on Steam’s website that one of the new features of the Deck OLED was waking the Deck via a bluetooth controller. I was trying it out with my Steam Controller that has already been paired by putting the Deck to sleep while it was docked (which shut off my Steam Controller automatically) then waiting a few seconds (like 15), then powering the Steam Controller back on. The Steam button on the controller flashed for a while like it was looking for something to connect to, then it shut off and the Deck did not wake up.

Is there a setting for either the Deck or the controller that enables wake via Bluetooth or is the Steam Controller just old enough that it won’t work? Or do I need to update the controller firmware?

Any guidance here would be appreciated.

I looked up other fixes and it involves going to the bios and changing a setting from DRD to XHCI but my bios was set to XHCI by default. Is there any other fixes anyone here knows about?

After an initial period of not running on the Deck, the Proton Hotfix branch allowed the game to be playable - we even had an influx of people showing their macros and settings for the Deck.

However, today, mine is only showing a black screen. GE-Proton, Proton 9, Proton Hotfix - it doesn't matter, just a black screen. If I spam "A" I sometimes get an anti-cheat error.

Anybody else having issues? It's not the servers being down, as I can play normally on my PC.

I was browsing for new games to enjoy on the lovely Deck. This one looked intriguing, but Steam is putting forth lots of warnings saying it's not supported on the Deck. Anybody out there having tried it?

What is your experience playing DS3 on the Steam Deck with an external monitor? what resolution do you use? What kind of performance were you able to squeeze out?

I'm currently playing at 1280x800 on a 4k tv and while this may not sound rather good, my couch is some meters away from the tv so in the end it's not that bad (or I'm not that picky). I'm on high graphical settings and get generally between 50 and 60 fps. Would you recommend switching to 1920x1080?
