This appears whenever I try to turn on my steam deck, and my deck won’t work. It gives me an ok option that I can’t click, and I can’t go into settings and free up space. How do I fix this?

Hi all. I am using Wowup.io to update my World of Warcraft addons on the Steamdeck. I simply added it via the desktop mode.

However, in Game Mode the cursor cannot go further right than what you see in the screenshot. Its like an invisible wall. Touch also does not work in the space.

The problem I am having here is that I cannot click the close button. Anyone knows a fix for this?

(as a workaround i am closing the app via the steam menu)

I've played 153 hours of Starfield on my steamdeck and never had any issues with it. I even played on SteamDecks preview and beta channel with their newer version, and it played flawlessly. I have not played it in ages now, and in that time, the beta version of steamos I was using went stable, and also, there was a starfield patch.

Now when I play, it constantly locks up and hard crashes and reboots my steamdeck. Other games ok. It's really annoying, I've still not finished it and am on the last bloody mission, lol. Maybe I need to reinstall it, but has anyone else had issues with the patch?

First things off I'm docked to an hdr 4k screen. Anyone figure out how to do this? Couldn't find any answers on google, it'd help with the megatron shaders which require hdr the option wasn't in settings and it should be.

so every time i install it, it works for as long as its open and when i close it and open it again it gets stuck on either a black screen or a warning type screen and i can move the controls and i can hear them moving around the menu. The game works fine on my pc but i would love to be able to play this on the go, does anyone have a solution for it?

I have seen countless posts here so I know it is better. The OLED screen is amazing and the battery life is at least %40 better. Also it has better performance and smoother controls + other improvements.

I am also thinking about selling my SD and getting an OLED one but it is not on sale in my country and all invidividual sellers have limited stocks and the demand is high. So I decided to wait until more OLED SD come to my country before I try to buy one. While waiting I play with my SD whenever I have time.

I read many times that people who switched to OLED feels like the older version feels clunky. I do own a PC for gaming too so it is not like I don't know how much better the gaming can get. I am currently not running some demanding AAA games on my deck and it looks great and plays very smoothly. While playing fast paced action games, it feels fast and responsive. When playing not demanding games, the battery is also fine.

So I played with it more this weekend and I just didn't feel like I needed an upgrade. Don't get me wrong- I might still buy an OLED to feel better about my life. But I am just saying I don't need it. The SD gaming is already great and fun enough. Not OLED version or not even a super gaming PC with giant OLED screen with the best controller money can buy was not needed while I simply enjoyed playing with my good old Deck.

I finally got my Steamdeck to stream from my PC effectively and part of that was having streaming set my desktop’s resolution to match the steam deck.

However, when I do this it completely messes up my desktop. It could have just been with RE7 but coming out of the game, my desktop had apps scaled way large and some were off screen and I didn’t have a way to get them back onto my screen (I had to finance docking apps together in windows 11 to get them back on screen). One app (perforce) was completely fucked with the UI being all scaled up permanently until it somehow got out of that state.

This same thing happened prior to a fresh install of windows so I am wondering what is causing it. My setup:

  • Main monitor is ultra wide at 1440p.
  • Second monitor is 16:9 at 1440p.
  • Windows 11 has desktop DPI scaling set to 125% for both monitors.

Charging my OLED deck for the first time, I noticed the charging seemed slower than expected - reviews said it charged faster than the LCD.

A bit of experimenting and looking at the Energy display in the desktop showed a pattern - at mid-charge levels the OLED deck can charge directly from a power bank or the PSU at around 30W. But when being fed through the dock, it seems to not go above 20W, equal to the maximum rate of the LCD version, meaning overall longer charge time.

Superficially, this might seem to make sense - maybe the dock might be only designed to supply sufficient charging power for the LCD.

But then it doesn't really, because all the dock has to do is supply 45W in total - it can't tell what the power's being used for, and the power supply is still 45W. So where's the 20W charge limit coming from?

I guess it has to be a limitation in the deck itself? Is it reserving more power for real usage rather than charging, because it's attached to the dock? Even though not currently doing anything taxing?

Anyone else seeing this?

Wondering if anyone is playing Diablo 4 on the OLED and has this issue where if your character walks the screen has this weird stutter going on. If I run it's completely smooth it just seems to happen if you walk. It's a minor annoyance as you run all the time in this game anyway but it's something that's bugging me simply because I don't get why it's happening and it's very odd.

Hi,

I am a new Steam deck user. Device is SteamDeck OLED 1TB. During the setup phase you have to enter Wi-Fi details. As much as I tried to enter the password the connection always hanged and then failed. My Wi-Fi router had WAP2/WPA3 Personal set 5GHz&2.4GHz.

I read that there seem to be problems with that WPA setting so I changed to the router to WPA2 AES. No change. I had to resort to my LAN USB-C adapter to setup the deck for the first time and update the SD software.

Now in my carage I have a simpler router which is 2.4GHz and WPA2 TKIP. This one connected without problems.

I am wondering what kind of magicry is needed to get it to work with my main home router. All other devices worked right off the bat, even my old AV -receiver.

I did try tinkering with the desktop but there If I try entering the Wi-Fi password now it wants to setup some kind of password vault and not sure If that helps.

If anyone is interested the main router is Sagemcom modem from DNA (operator), DNA Mesh Wifi F-3896

EDIT: I also tried an OPEN (no password) guest network with my main modem and that hanged and failed too.

It will load a game and then just black screen and then I have to reset it. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. I’m noticing games that the deck should handle with no problem like wizard of legend, are only playing at 15 fps. Idk what happened but suddenly my SD just struggles

I absolutely loved my Steam Deck LCD and was never planning on upgrading to the OLED but decided I’d test the waters to see what I could potentially get for it and got an offer I couldn’t refuse. Of course I took the opportunity to justify the upgrade lol.

My OLED arrives in 2-3 days but browsing this sub has been a nightmare reading about the various QC issues people are experiencing. I understand that as with any product, the negatives will always be more amplified on a dedicated forum like this and I may end up receiving a unit that does not have any of the issues mentioned.

Still, I’ve been wondering about what the best route would be if I did end up experiencing an issue. Would it be better for me to return the product as it would be within 14 days of delivery or should I RMA it? I’m assuming it would be better to return because the RMA process could take a considerable amount of time and I could potentially be out of the return window by the end of it.

If I did end up returning it, I’d probably just wait until most of these issues have been ironed out before repurchasing. I understand from reading other’s experiences on here that the LCD was also plagued with issues early in its life cycle. I was late to the game when I bought mine only about 6 months ago which is probably why I didn’t experience any issues with it. I’m sure by then they must have figured most of it out.

So, what do you think? Better to RMA or return and wait?

Hi all,

I’m so excited that I might get a steam deck for Xmas. Can I stream my Series X to it when at home and play away from the living room? If so, how do I do it? Is it an easy process?

Thank you!

Is it worth it or should we avoid it ? What are your feedback ? Please tell us which one is your Deck when replying.

For those who don't know, there's a mod that aim to overclock the screen's refresh rate up to 70hz for the LCD, to 120hz for the Oled BOE pannel and to 100hz for the Oled Samsung pannel. Deck HD is not supported currently.

Seriously, I don’t get the hate waiting till Christmas to enjoy something on a special day. I kinda even see this with consoles now in general.

I have been using moonlight/sunshine with my PC to stream more demanding titles with the settings cranked up to my deck (OLED). I I've been trying to stream at 90hz since apparently the display can handle it (I have decent net) but I've noticed the frametimes is more erratic than if I was doing it @60hz. Is this caused by a setting or should I try to match my PCs refresh rate with that of the deck? Gsync is turned on too for my setup so no idea if that's the culprit. Thank you in advance

Ive just noticed that the left touchpad haptics are much weaker than the right side. There seems to be many threads about it for the LCD model but not any resolution.

Is it a hardware or software issue? Anyone else have this problem?

Maybe it's just a placebo, but turning subpixel hinting to full RGB in desktop mode seems to make desktop mode fonts a bit easier on the eyes after a reboot (to reload all the text elements). Game mode menus also look better, but I'm not sure if this is just placebo or not. The difference is so subtle I can't tell if it's real, lmao.

I have noticed it's easier on my eyes anecdotally. Worth a try I suppose. Go to Desktop Mode -> Settings -> Appearance -> Fonts -> Subpixel Hinting

I'm using my deck both for daily computing activities ( browsing, SSH, mailing...) and gaming.

I'm considering a portable monitor to carry with me and deploy my station in any places in want.

I'm torn between an OLED 13-15 inch monitor with only FHD, or a 16/10 2560 × 1600 monitor that would probably help when i'm not gaming.

For those that made one of those choices : is 2560 × 1600 better when using the native Deck resolution for gaming ( as it should, double the pixels ? ) Is it better for browsing ?

Or is the OLED display the way to go as it's just way superior for gaming and video ?

Thanks for your feedbacks.

I'm debating about getting an 512gb but thinking is that enough? Maybe I should go for a bigger size but wanted to hear what everyone uses!

Thanks very much!

Hello everyone! New decker here. I was wondering if anyone have nice recommendations to use the steamdeck as a host for “remote play with friends” feature. Here are the list that I came across so far! (Still not tested tho as of 4th of dec 2023)

  • Over cooked 2
  • bread and fred
  • terraria
  • gang beasts
  • cuphead

Please drop your experience in the comments about “remote play with friends” and any recommendations!

Have a wonderful day reddit deckers!

I recently got the 1TB OLED SD and I've been loving the pure blacks. But I've been reading high praise about HDR so I wanted to try with a few games that support it.

I haven't noticed any difference when turning HDR on and off. Is there any calibration steps I'm missing?

For example, in Uncharted, the only thing that changes is that the image becomes less saturated, but I can't see more detail on the dark areas and the highlights are still very bright.

Is Uncharted's HDR support bad, is the SD's HDR support bad or should I just curb my expectations of HDR as a whole?

I have downloaded the game and the shard and I can log in with a problem but after a few secs my shards disconnects me because my shard does not let players to configure keyboard keys’ registration delay. I think the setting goes by the name “keyboard filter.” I did not make any change to begin with but my shard seema to think I did. I found some delay settüng in Steam OS and played with them a little but to no avail. Does anybody have ezperience with this very specific problem by any chance?

Hey guys! I’m just diving in to the universe of Warhammer 40k. I love the lore so far and the different factions. I currently own Gladius Relics of War and Boltgun. What other Warhammer 40k games are a must play on Steam deck and why?
